Conscious Social Change: An Introduction

A 1.5 - 2-hour interactive workshop on the Five Capacities of Conscious Social Change, involving personal growth practices, mindfulness and meditation, social entrepreneurship tools, breath-based mind-body trauma healing techniques, group problem-solving, and dialogue. This customized workshop has been presented to more than 2500 people at high schools, universities, faith-based and community groups, and wellness centers globally.

This course is also offered as a 5-week series of 1.5 hour Zoom-based sessions, dedicating each week to one of the Five Capacities of Conscious Social Change. Our next introductory course will be hosted in mid-November 2023 and again in early January 2024. Contact us to learn more.

Managing Stress, Building Resilience

A 1.5 - 2 hour interactive workshop for stress-management, wellbeing and self-awareness will draw upon current research in neuroscience, interpersonal biology, psychology and the ancient traditions of breath in facilitating practices for mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. Participants will explore the typical challenges underlying burnout, identify their own negative coping mechanisms, identify unconscious patterns of behavior that can distort their work, develop proactive strategies for resilience, and reconnect with their deeper intentions. The workshop will also provide a short demonstration of an evidence-based, trauma-informed program in breathwork and meditation for chronic stress and post-traumatic stress.  Having enhanced their capacity for self-care, participants will begin to uncover the relevance of wellbeing and mindful leadership to effective social change

Mindfulness for Power & Calm in Leadership & Public Speaking

This 1-2 hour workshop utilizes mindfulness techniques to support candidates for public office and others in leadership position in preparing for public speaking, stakeholder engagement, conflict management, and managing stress and building resilience.

Conscious Communications

One of the skills which serves us most in our work as mindful change leaders is the ability to listen not just to ourselves, but to others. Mindfulness enables more conscious and effective communication with your team, colleagues and community. This 2-3 hour workshop incorporates a range of evidence-based tools for conscious communications, including: deep listening and how to support self-sufficiency in problem-solving; conscious conflict resolution; cultivating presence in relationship; examining intentions and default approaches to change; connecting more deeply to foster trust.

Compassion for Change Agents

In these uncertain times, we all have a need for a little more compassion – compassion for those loved ones with whom we are spending ever more time with inside, those who are deeply suffering from the economic and health consequences of this pandemic, and for ourselves – to let ourselves off the hook a little in how we are coping with everything we are facing. In this 1-1.5 hour workshop, learn the tools for building compassion, reframing our perspective, reducing distress in response to challenge, and increasing our feelings of kindness and connectedness.

Tools for Effective Personal Leadership

A half-day interactive workshop on inner-driven social change for change agents working within existing organizations and systems. Techniques include conscious leadership, personal transformation and inner-driven social change tools to support participants in engaging their organizations and stakeholders in transforming internal policy or operations towards transformative goals.

Introduction to Breathwork

A half-day experiential workshop on the ancient traditions of breath for stress-management and self-awareness, including Breath-Body-Mind, a trauma-healing program in Qigong, Coherent Breathing and breath-based meditations designed by Richard P. Brown, MD and Patricia Gerbarg, MD for the treatment of the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.  Gretchen Steidle, who is a certified Integrative Breathworker and Level 3 BBM practitioner, has delivered breath-based trauma healing to more than 1000 people, including Rwanda genocide survivors, Haiti earthquake survivors, first-responders, and activists, among others.

Conscious Social Change Initiation

A 1 to 2-day introductory workshop and experiential retreat for university students and professionals. This workshop provides an introduction to Gretchen Steidle’s Five Capacities of Conscious Social Change and mindfulness design tools for inner-driven social innovation. Teams participate in contemplative and personal growth practices, group-based problem-solving, conscious communication, simulation, and case studies discussion.
